# Fees & Treasury

Lacuna charges a small protocol fee on certain actions (such as shielding, unshielding, and swaps). Fees fund the people and infrastructure that keep the network running.

## Where Fees Go

* **Relayers** — compensation for broadcasting transactions and paying gas.
* **Protocol Treasury** — funds ongoing development and ecosystem growth, governed by the DAO.

> Exact fee rates and the treasury split are set by governance and finalized ahead of mainnet — see [DAO Governance & Token Logic](/economics-and-token/governance-and-token.md).
