# The Relayer Network

To withdraw or transfer from a shielded pool, a transaction has to be broadcast on-chain — and paying gas from your own public address would leak the very link Lacuna is hiding. Relayers solve this.

## What A Relayer Does

A relayer submits your transaction to the chain and pays the gas, so you don't have to reveal a funded public address. You compensate the relayer from your shielded funds as part of the transaction.

## Privacy Of The Channel

Communication between your wallet and a relayer is encrypted. Relayers help broadcast — they are not custodians and cannot spend your funds.

> **Roadmap:** A decentralized, permissionless relayer set and stronger channel guarantees are tracked on the [Roadmap](/resources/roadmap.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://whitepaper.lacunalabs.io/how-lacuna-works/relayer-network.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
